This standard concrete slab bridge crosses 340th Street east of Manilla.
Built in 1913, the bridge features a standard design. This standard design is considered to be a concrete slab, although it is commonly considered a box culvert. The bridge rests on concrete substructures. The bridge has a rather large headwall, which is built to hold the large fill on top of the bridge.
Single span slab/culvert structures were built at many road crossings during the relocation and reconstruction of this route. The design is extremely common, and is well suited for small spans.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in fair condition. Some spalling has begun around the edges of the bridge, but appears to largely by in check.
The author has ranked the bridge as being locally significant, due to the old age and exceedingly common design.
